We have been asked quite a bit what the significance of our team name is, so I thought I would set the record straight. Originally we were just kicking around ideas and decided that if the team name was For The Children, then other teams couldn't possibly be against us. How could one be against the children? Insert cute innocent kid here.
Somehow this spawned the strategy that we should pledge to donate a dollar to a charity for the children for every point we end up getting in the final round. Not only would this be for the good of mankind, but perhaps it would make other teams less likely to throw manure on our side knowing that it would mean a dollar less that a child in need would receive. This, of course, isn't really in the spirit of this competition, so we didn't actually spread any such pledge. After joking about it long enough, we couldn't help but actually go through with the donation part of the plan, so we ended up giving $14 to http://www.feedthechildren.org/ If only our hippo hadn't just turned off in a fluke!
